In-School Mental Health Treatment

Family Wrap In-School Mental Health Services: A “Force Multiplier” for Success
Types of In-School Mental Health Treatments We Offer
At South Coast Community Services, we know that every child is different. Some kids struggle with focus, some with friendships, and some carry heavier worries like trauma or depression. Our school mental health professionals ensure that the unique needs of every child are met in the school, where they spend a significant amount of time.
Our licensed professionals provide mental health services through an In-School Treatment model that is organized into three levels of care, called tiers. The Full-Service Tier offers the most support, with therapy sessions once or twice per week, paraprofessional assistance several times a week, and ongoing parent involvement. The Transition Tier provides therapy once or twice a month, together with weekly help at school. The Maintenance Tier is designed for children who are ready to use skills with more independence, but still benefit from a regular check-in.
In this way, children receive the right level of care for their situation without leaving their school setting. Services address a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral challenges that can affect learning and friendships.
Our clinicians work closely with families, teachers, and even counselors in school. This ensures that classroom strategies connect with what happens at home and in the community. SCCS also shares resources with school administrators and local education agencies, offering technical assistance and guidance to improve support for children.
The aim is to promote mental health, build confidence, and enhance overall well-being so children can continue learning and growing in a safe environment.
Choose the Right In-School Mental Health Treatment Plan for Your Child

We’re Here to Support Your Child Where They Are
We’re not here to replace your child’s parents or school counselors. Our goal is to promote mental health by offering that extra layer of support when and where your child needs it most. When life feels overwhelming, we step in to help your child discover practical, unique ways to manage the stress of school, relationships, and everything in between.
Our Wraparound Program Goes Beyond the School Day
A true Wraparound Plan doesn’t end when your child walks off the school grounds. If a plan doesn’t extend from the classroom to the playground, the sports field, the neighborhood, and the home, then it’s not complete.
We continue our work with your child until the positive, proactive elements of the plan become natural parts of their daily life. This holistic approach empowers the student to realize their full potential and transition into adulthood as a confident, productive, and stable member of the community.
Insurances We Accept
We accept private insurance, Medi-Cal, and other coverage options depending on the mental health services you receive. If you don’t have insurance, we offer private pay options, super billing, and flexible payment methods, including cash and credit cards.

In-School Treatment FAQs
What is in-school mental health treatment?
It is therapy and support provided by licensed clinicians during the school day. Children receive help for concerns like anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems while staying connected to their classes and daily learning.
Who can benefit from in-school mental health services?
Any child who is experiencing emotional or social struggles at school may benefit. These services are designed to support student mental health so that they can focus better in class, feel comfortable with peers, and build the skills needed to continue progressing toward academic success.
How does Family Wrap in-school treatment work?
Family Wrap is a collaborative plan. Clinicians, parents, and teachers work together around the child’s needs. Everyone involved agrees on goals and follows through in class, at home, and in the wider community to support the child consistently.
Will treatment interfere with my child’s school day?
Sessions are typically planned in coordination with the school. The purpose of the treatment is to support the child and not disrupt the school schedule. Children often return to class more focused and participate in activities with their classmates more confidently.
How do I get started with in-school mental health treatment?
Families can contact SCCS directly or ask their school for a referral. After an initial meeting, the right level of service is recommended. Rest assured, all programs are delivered by licensed professionals in partnership with schools and families.
